Working as a Team to Achieve Our Dreams
A majority of humans have dreams that never become a reality for them. In fact, it has been said that the richest place on earth is not to be found in Switzerland nor oil-rich Saudi Arabia. The richest place on earth is at the graveyard, where beneath every tombstone lays a person who was full of ideas, dreams and visions that went unfulfilled in their lifetime. These were priceless treasures given by God and were unfulfilled because of their fear of failure, throwing in the towel too early, or cracking under pressure. They succumbed and gave up in the middle of their tests. We must not allow the dreams and visions that God has given us to go unfulfilled in our lifetime.
As a church, we have a vision. As we work towards planting and multiplying cellgroups, each person in the cellgroups needs words of encouragement and motivation to achieve their dreams. Let’s take Joseph as an example (Genesis 37) as we see how we can achieve our dreams:
- People usually cannot understand dreamers
Joseph was a dreamer. His brothers responded harshly and rejected him. They misunderstood him and thought that he was abusing his position and wanted to control them. Joseph’s dream was humanly impossible.
- We have to confront opposition and depression
The enemy’s purpose is to discourage us so that we will lose hope and bury our dreams. The well that Joseph was in symbolized the darkness, depression and loneliness a leader must face due to envy or being misunderstood. There will be difficult moments caused by people, even by those whom we love. There might also be a “thorn in the flesh” due to envy that will torment us or try to discourage us from fulfilling the dream. However, loneliness will help us to depend on God through prayer. Adversity will strengthen our character so that we can conquer and achieve our dreams.
- Facing obstacles
We have to know and have faith that God has already established in His agenda a time when our dreams would be fulfilled. Circumstances will change but God and His promises never change. Perseverance will help us build character and integrity to finish the task that has been entrusted to us. We have to confront and overcome temptations to quit. Winners are not quitters and quitters neither win nor fulfill their dreams.
- Dreams made into reality
Finally, ask God for grace to be joyful in the present position but stay focused on the end goal. Teach otheres to pray and see the dream fulfilled in their spirit man.
As we work as a team in our cellgroups, we can encourage and motivate each other through these steps and prayers to achieve the dreams God has given us so that they will not go unfulfilled.
