We Can Be Like Enoch Too

Hebrews 11:5 (NKJV) By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony that he pleased God.

If we want to walk closely with God like Enoch did, we must have clarity about the redemption realities.

We have the full counsel of the Word of God to teach, train, correct and rebuke us. We can know God through His Word, and we are aware of what sin is through the law. As a new creation in Christ Jesus, we have the nature of God. While the people in the Old Testament had a heart of stone that is rebellious and hardened against God and the things of Him, we have a heart of flesh. Hidden in Christ, we are seen as righteous, blameless, and holy even though we are not perfect. We have a soul, which is the mind, and it needs to be renewed with the Word of God so that it does not hinder us towards the things of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Moreover, we have the Holy Spirit living in us—the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus Christ from the dead, who will empower us to live godly lives. Therefore, we have the ability to yield to His leading to overcome the flesh. We are to walk in the Spirit and deal with the flesh, which is the sum of our appetites that desire to live independent of God, despite being born-again believers. We have a new and living way to enter into the presence of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We can build up our faith in God through listening to His Word, and we are able to know and pray out the will of God for our lives, for Jesus taught us to pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Through the leading of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, it is possible for us to walk with God just like Enoch did, and we will be lifted up into the air when Jesus returns too. Enoch foreshadows what New Testament believers will experience when they will be caught up in the air with the Lord when He returns.

The society that Enoch lived in greatly resembles ours, because the sin among the people was getting worse, leading God to bring judgement during Noah’s days. Likewise, we are living in a world that is getting darker by the day, but the church will become more glorious by the day if we are to live like Enoch, by making God the top priority in our lives, and living by faith from now till we meet Him face to face.
