Walking with God in Faith

Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

The first step of our salvation is when we believed by faith that Jesus died for our sin and dealt with the sin problem. Thereafter, we need to continue walking with God and getting to know Him personally and experiencing Him daily.

Paul in Philippians 3:8, 10 said that he counts all things as rubbish and that he “may know Him and the power of His resurrection.” Jesus tells us in John 14:16-17 that the Father will “give you another Helper… and that “you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” This Helper is the Holy Spirit. Jesus also said in John 10:27 that “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

Therefore, we can know God and walk with Him daily through fellowship in our moments with Him.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Faith towards God is a basic or elementary principle of Christ and is required whenever we come before His throne.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

Faith is a substance that gives us a confident expectation and that substance is the Word of God and the inner witness of our spirit.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God, then the substance must come from the Word of God.

How then can we know that we have faith? There are at least 2 ways

1) By our confident expectation of results. For example, in Mark 5:21-24 we read of Jarius’ faith which expected his daughter to be healed. In Mark 5:25-34, the woman with the issue of blood also came to Jesus expecting to be healed or made whole.

2) By our firm persuasion. In Romans 4:19-21 we read of Abraham being fully persuaded, with the knowledge and understanding that he received from the Lord, before Isaac was born and did not even consider his own body and Sarah’s body which were dead which meant that they were not able to reproduce anymore.

To be strong in faith we must not consider the facts. Not that we deny the facts but that we should think upon the knowledge and understanding that we have received instead of the facts of the circumstances which will sway our persuasion and has caused many to lose their faith.
