Walking with God
Philippians 3:10 KNOWING Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did].
We are not able to do the above unless we begin to let go of our lives and begin to trust Him. We need to trust God in every aspect of our lives when Jesus is the Lord of our lives. We need to trust that He is good and has a plan for our lives. Although not all of us are called into full time ministry in the church, all of us are living full time for the Lord. Every one of us has a role to play regardless of whether it is at work or at home. This is especially true when we want to be the salt and light for the Lord in the world. We also want to be confident that the Lord is with us when we face challenges in our lives.
Exodus 33:14-15 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here”.
Moses gave up his position as the prince of Egypt to become God’s key person in delivering His people out of slavery. It would have been an impossible task to win over the trust of those people and to deal with the magicians of the land and Pharaoh, if it weren’t for the power, wisdom, guidance and the presence of God with him.
Moses had to lead a very stubborn and rebellious bunch of people who had no knowledge of God and His values, to the Promised Land. He also had to fight against the inhabitants of the land to possess the Promised Land. It is a challenge to lead a group of people from Point A to Point B unless one has a clear vision of where Point B is. Moses had learnt to be dependent on God in responding to His calling and the work that he had been entrusted to do.
How many of us take the time to seek the will of God, and know our calling before walking out His plan in our lives?
Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Are the presence and the blessings of God with us in the work that we are in? Have we consecrated our lives to God? There might be many plans in our heart but it is important to allow the Lord to direct our steps, because His grace will be sufficient for us when we encounter difficult situations.
Proverbs 20:5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water,
But a man of understanding will draw it out.
We need to take time to seek the face of God in order to draw out His plan, calling and purpose for our lives. God will speak to us through the four safety nets:
- I) A personal word from God from the Bible; II) The witness of the Spirit in our heart; III) Godly counsel; IV) Dreams/visions.
We will experience God when we walk with Him daily. We will be guided to make the right choices and know how to react in certain circumstances when we know that God is holy, good and loving. We will also experience the power of the Resurrection in our lives to overcome temptations, and to have the wisdom to deal and stay on top of our circumstances.
Will you walk with God daily and allow Him to direct your steps?
