Walking in the Spirit
Galatians 5:16 -18 (NKJV) I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
God will be an unjust God if we are not able to have the ability to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit of peace in our lives. All the fruit of the Holy Spirit is found in us the moment we are born again. We are a new creation now that we are born again. We have the nature of God and the ability to yield to the Holy Spirit therefore walking in the Spirit is an ability that God has given us. We have the Holy Spirit living in us that empowers us to walk in the Spirit and not gratify the desire of the flesh. Therefore, we have victory over temptation.
He has empowered us to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives by abiding in the vine/in Christ and choosing to walk in the Spirit rather than succumb to the flesh. We are not abiding in Christ and allowing the Holy Spirit to rule and reign in our lives if we gratify the desire of the flesh.
We were subject to the law of sin and death before we were saved. The sin nature in us dictated what we should do and our emotions got the better of us. We were living solely in the soulish realm. Just like the law of gravity applies to everyone and nobody is able to break free from it until we apply the law of aerodynamics. The airplane is able to take off from the runway despite of the law of gravity because the law of aerodynamics helps the aircraft to lift off. Similarly the believers life is able to break away from the control of sin when we allow the law of Spirit of life in Christ Jesus to work in us .We must know that we have the life of Christ in us and the power of the Holy Spirit to empower us to deal with the flesh in particular the soul. We pursue peace by walking in the Spirit and deny the flesh 1000 times!
When we continue to abide in the Lord, remember His teachings and walk in the Spirit then we will see the fruit of peace being shown or produced in our lives. It is within our ability and power to bring about peace at home, at work and in the country of our residence.
