The Cry From Within Us

The Cry From Within Us
ICS Daily Devotions

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 (NKJV) Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

There are two kinds of death: physical and spiritual death. All of us will face these two deaths unless we are born again. Those who do not have Christ in their lives will face spiritual death, where they are eternally separated from God. The passage states, “we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us”. There is a cry that comes from within us, urging us to do something about it.

God is a God who would leave the ninety to search for the one lost sheep. Jesus urgently preached the gospel in every city and village. The Holy Spirit sees the people around us, particularly those who are still lost. He pleads and compels us to go forth and share the gospel with them.

We, the church, are to tell them that God does not impute their sins and trespasses on them because God has already made Christ to be sin for us so that we can have Christ’s righteousness. God has entrusted us with the ministry and the word of reconciliation to encourage everyone to return to Him.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

The church must rise to her calling and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ when the world is in trouble. That’s the last and great commission of Jesus Christ entrusted to the church, His body of believers. Are you sharing the gospel with your colleagues, relatives, and neighbours? You may be a business owner or a member of staff in a company. You might be providing your subordinates with a job and a livelihood, but you are also in that position to share the gospel before it is too late for them!

The power is in the gospel, not in the testimonies or even if someone were to rise from the dead. We are not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God to save everyone who believes, first for the Jews and then for the Gentiles.
