Step out into Your New Season in Faith
Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV) Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
In the above Scripture, God was encouraging the Israelites to forget the past, and trust that He would do a new thing with and through them. There will be different times and seasons for us too. The world is constantly changing, so what God has in store for you might be completely different from what you are used to, such as a different industry or environment which will take you out of your comfort zone. The challenge is are we open to be led into the new season of our lives when the time comes?
Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV) A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
The best place to be is the place where the Lord plants you as He directs your step. This is here that you will experience His grace and His wisdom and be able to face all challenges because He has promised to be with you.
Many Christians make the mistake of putting the “cart before the horse” where they make decisions without consulting God, and then expect God to bless them. However, if we expect God to “make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert’, the caveat is we need to have followed His ways in the first place. Nobody can dictate God to do anything, but God is the one who dictates how He will pave the way for us because He is the Lord of our lives.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Therefore, after God had assured the Israelites that He would make a way even though the journey would be tough, they needed to have faith in God and step out on the journey. Likewise, after God has spoken to us and told us not be afraid when we encounter challenges, we also need to step out in faith.
God is faithfully committed to us till we meet Him face to face. How about us? Here is a checklist of some adjustments that we may have to make to step into our new seasons.
We need to:
• ensure that seeking the counsel of God is not an afterthought
• learn to be led by God through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit
• trust God as He leads us through His Word and the inner witness of the Holy Spirit even when it doesn’t make sense
• have the desire for God to journey with us
• be convinced that He has our highest good in mind when He leads us into a possible new season even if we need to step out of our comfort zone
The best and safest place to be is where we will experience the most grace to weather through the storms, and that’s where He wants us to be for the new season of our lives.
