Spiritual Gifts

The church ministry is a body ministry. There is no super hero minister because we need the gifts from everyone so that the church can be effective.

What Jesus did for us on the cross of Calvary should fill our hearts with gratitude and give us a desire to want to live our lives purposefully to glorify His name. One of the ways to express our deep worship and appreciation for all that He has done for us is to serve Him, His church and the people whom He has placed around us with the gifts that He has given us.

1 Corinthians 12:1 “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant…”

Some of us may say that we have no time to invest into God’s kingdom though we are thankful for the gift of salvation. But this is unwise thinking for a Christian. There will be heavenly rewards given out at the judgement seat of Christ. God expects us to serve Him with our gifts that He has entrusted to us. Yes, we are saved by grace and not by works but we are definitely saved to do good works. The work that we have done will be tested by fire and everything that we had done with a right intention and motives will stand the test of fire. Anything that was done out of selfish ambition will be burnt.

Jesus specifically instructed us to store up for ourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust will not destroy. Therefore, Paul would not want us to be ignorant about spiritual gifts because it is through the gift given to us that we can use it to benefit the body of believers and cause growth to the body. The spiritual gifts are operated by faith but motivated by love for one another.
