Main Passage: Philippians 4:4-9

  1. Discuss the general background of Philippians. Review the issues that Paul addresses in the letter and see if you can see a modern equivalent of these issues that you and your church may be facing today.
  2. Why is the command “rejoice in the Lord always” actually possible? Discuss verse 5 “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” – your moments of success and setback in living out this command.
  3. Are you surprised by Robert Leahy’s study that only 3% of our worries eventually happen. Try to recall your worries in the last 4 weeks and check if this (3%) is true for you. Discuss the “what”, “when” and “how” Paul teaches us on not to worry. Why is thanksgiving important in prayer?
  4. Share examples/testimonies on how you have used Philippians 4:8 as your thought filters during the week.
  5. Why transforming head knowledge into faith knowledge is important. Share your experience of God’s presence as you put your knowledge into action through faith.
