Main Passage: Matthew 28:16-20
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matt 28:18-20 (ESV)
- God has given us the Great Commission. Do you think it is only meant for some and not for everyone? Why or why not? What is your understanding of delegated authority? Why do we need this authority? How would you exercise this authority given to you? In what way(s)?
(Deut 1:15; Ex 18:13–27; Rev 2:26-27, 7:17; Matt 7:28–29, 8:26–27, 8:28–32, 9:6, 9:18–26; Eph 1:21; Col 2:10; Phi 2:6-11; Lk 10:18-19) - Jesus used every opportunity to share the Kingdom of Heaven. How important is this Kingdom mandate to you as a believer in Christ? Where do you think God has placed you in advancing His Kingdom? What are the challenges in fulfilling this commission from Jesus? How can you overcome these challenges?
(2 Cor 1:5-7; Phil 3:10; Col 1:24; Matt 10:5-6, 24:14; Rom 11:25-26; Acts 1:8) - What does discipleship mean to you? Is it important to play a part in disciple-making? Why or why not? What do you understand by this statement, “It’s not the ability that God wants, but usability”? Have you ever received a personal assignment from God? What was it and how did it go?
