Main Passage: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12
- If you must compare your function in the body of Christ to some part of a human body, what would it be? A hand? An eye? A liver? Why? What do you understand about us being the body of Christ? Do you see yourself fitting into the body of Christ? How can we function effectively as the body of Christ?
(Col 1:18; Eph 2:19-20; Acts 9:31; 1 Cor 1:2) - “Unity does not imply uniformity.” What do you understand by this statement? In chapter 12:26, Paul explains that If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. How would you respond to this verse? Have you experienced the body of Christ supporting you in your growth? Do you see yourself as an important and needed part of the body? Why? What can you do to contribute to the unity in the church?
(Jn 17:20-23; Rom 10:9-10, 12:4-5; Eph 4:16) - In verse 12:18, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. Why is this important to us? Do you think spiritual gifts are important to the church today? Reconciliation is an important part of our Christian living. What steps can you take to practice this truth?
