And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.”
Luke 5:11 (ESV)
- Which part of Luke 5 excites you the most? Why? What are your thoughts on Jesus’ calling us to be fishers of men? Why are missions and evangelism such an important aspect of our Christian faith? What are some truths or principles that you can draw from in the passage?
(Mk. 1:16–20; Eph 4:11-12;1 Pet 2:9-10; Col 1:27, 4:5; Matt 28:18-20; 24:14) - Have you ever doubted God? Under what circumstance? If you are in Simon’s shoes, would you have doubted Jesus? What was Jesus’ intention of demonstrating His miracles to Simon and his fellow fishermen? How would you relate to Simon’s life- changing revelation (v.8) to your own life? In v. 11, the disciples left everything and followed Jesus. Are you prepared to do likewise? Why or why not?
(Ja 1:5-6, 22-25; Rom 4:20-24; Pro 21:21; Deut 30:20; Pro 19:23; Ps 16:11, 86:5) - Jesus called His disciples to be fishers of men. As His disciples, must we leave our vocation to serve Jesus? Share your thoughts. What can you do to contribute to the big harvest? In what ways? Someone once said, “We cannot force someone to hear a message they are not ready to receive…But we must never underestimate the power of planting a SEED!” Do you agree with this statement?
