Jesus Makes Everything New

Main Passage: Mark 3:13-35; 5:21-43

  1. Jesus calls very different people to Himself and gives them a new identity as God’s people. What are some things—career, achievements, nationality, family background, success or failure—that we are tempted to build our identity upon? What difference does it make to know that our deepest identity is found in Christ?
  2. Jesus did not simply gather believers; He created a new family. What does it mean in practical terms for us to live as brothers and sisters in Christ rather than simply people who attend the same church? How can our cell group become more like the family Jesus intended it to be?
  3. The bleeding woman and Jairus both faced situations beyond their ability to change, and they turned to Jesus. Is there something in your life today that is beyond your control? What would it mean for you to trust Jesus with it?
  4. The teachers of the law knew the Scriptures, yet their hearts became resistant to what God was doing. What can make our hearts insensitive to God’s voice—self-confidence, self-sufficiency, presuppositions, disappointment, or something else? Is there an area of your life where Jesus may be asking you to listen, repent, surrender, or allow Him to change you?Him directing you now, and will you obey?
