Main Passage: Psalm 91 (NLT)

  1. In what areas of your life are you stressing/controlling yourself by trying to force, manipulate, or manufacture an outcome that you actually need to leave in God’s sovereign hands? If you truly believed that God’s sovereign plans for your career, your family, your future, finance, health etc could not be derailed by difficult people or bad circumstances, how would that change your anxiety level this week?
  2. What are you missing out on right now—whether it is peace, gratitude, security, or rest—because you are living in “survival mode” rather than trusting God’s character? Where are you currently trying to force your own timeline because you feel like God is moving too slowly? What is that impatience costing your soul right now?
  3. Are you still trying to step into the ring and wrestle God in your own strength, or are you ready to take off your mask, collapse into His arms, and simply cling to Him? When God asked Jacob his name at the riverbank, Jacob had to stop pretending and confess who he really was (“Deceiver”). What “mask” or false identity of perfection do you feel pressured to drop before God and others today?
(eg. the perfectionist, the achiever, people pleaser, the protector etc)
Jacob walked away from the fight with a permanent limp, yet it was his greatest trophy of grace because it forced him to lean on God. What is a “limp” or area of weakness in your life right now that God wants to use to keep you clinging to Him?
