Main Passage: Romans 14:17-19, 2 Chronicles 19:9

He gave them these orders: “You must serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the Lord.”
2 Chronicles 19:9 (NIV)

  1. What is loyalty? What does it mean to be loyal? According to Cooke, “Some people develop an appearance of being loyal, but inwardly they are harbouring ill will and rebellion.” What do you understand by this? Why do you think loyalty is no longer a high value in people’s lives? How is God speaking to you regarding loyalty in your heart? In what ways?
    (Pro 19:22; 3:3; Hos 6:6; 2 Chron 16:9; John 17:4; 1 Pet 3:8)
  2. Are you a pleasant, positive person to be around? Cooke said, “People who have bad attitudes often blame their disposition on others or on various circumstances, but the fact is that each of us is responsible for our own attitude.” Do you agree? Share your reflection.
    (Eph 4:21-24; Pro 4:23; Rom 12:17-18; 15:5; Phi 2:14-15; Gal 6:4-5, Ja 1:19, 26)
  3. Is having the right attitude important? Why or why not? When someone display a negative attitude, do you let it affect you? Do you think having a right attitude is important to achieving goals in life? Why or why not? How can you maintain a right attitude in your work? How do you stay positive when confronted with negative situations or difficult people?
    (Ja 1:2-4; Phi 2:15; Gal 5:22-23; Matt 5:16; Pro 17:22; Col 3:12-15, 23-24)
