Protected as His sheep
John 10:11,13,15 (NKJV) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep… The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep… As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
It is comforting to know that God cares for us. We have the Holy Spirit residing in our heart and He prompt us whenever there is a danger. He warns us of people whom we should not trust. It is a form of care and protection. We need to be sensitive to His prompting or the check in the spirit man.
We need to remember that God will also use His servants and children to care for you. The Holy Spirit will prompt His servant to call you or visit you in time of need. The cell group whom you belong is the body of Christ who represents the Lord on earth to journey with you.
We have a good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. Primarily, this scripture revealed to us regarding God’s salvation plan where Jesus laid down His life to redeem us from our sins. But it also revealed to us the extent of God’s love for us by giving Jesus to die on behalf of our sins and lawless deeds.
Therefore, if God so loved us by giving Jesus to take our place, then we should be very secured in regard to God’s love for us! This lays the foundation for us that we have a good shepherd who watches over us not just spiritually but also physically, materially and emotionally.
1 Samuel 17:34-35 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.
We have a good shepherd who protects the sheep. King David gave us example what is expected of a shepherd. A good and responsible shepherd is one who will endanger Himself, put the interest and lives of the sheep first.
We might not have real lions or bears attacking us in our daily lives today. However, there is an evil hierarchy who wants to harm us. We have been told that the evil one will attempt to kill, steal and destroy our lives through many ways. We are given the right to enforce the victory over the devil by using the vested authority that God has given us in Christ. It definitely covers spiritual protection from the enemies when it comes to receiving protection from the Shepherd. In fact, God has gone an extra mile by giving us a position that is higher than the demonic realms. He has defeated all the principalities, dominion and might and placed them under the feet of Jesus. He has given us the use of Jesus’ name to cast out demons. He has given us the authority in the name of Jesus and He has made us to be seated with Christ in the heavenly places. We are seated beside Jesus on the right-hand side of the Heavenly Father. No demonic activities will be able to come near to our dwellings.
Therefore, being aware of what the good Shepherd has done for us should bring peace in our heart and mind in Christ Jesus. As a good shepherd of our lives, God will protect us in our coming in and going out so that we are absolutely safe from all evil. We are in good hands. God’s hands. We shall not fear for He is with us and watches over us. God has surrounded us with good brothers and sisters in Christ who are there to support and encourage us. He who did not spare His own son but gave Him up for us will also freely provide us with all things in life. He shall lead us to green pastures, beside still waters and He will also lead us out of the valley to the mountain top!
