Praying from a Place of Victory

Romans 8:34 (NKJV) Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

The current ministry of Jesus, after His finished work of redemption on the cross, is to intercede for us at the right hand of the Heavenly Father. Because Jesus is our mediator and advocate, if the devil brings a charge of accusation about us before the Heavenly Father, whenever we pray in Jesus’ name, He will show His nailed pierced hands to show that it is a family matter solely between us and God, and is none of the devil’s business, so he should stay out of it. Therefore, no matter how much you have stumbled along your Christian walk, run back to the Heavenly Father because nobody can condemn us if God has justified us.

Know that God is with us whether we are the person being prayed for or the person interceding. God is saying, “I have you covered when you are caught between the rock and the hard place. Not only am I interceding for you, but I have also mobilised people to stand in the gap for you.” God is constantly looking, nudging and moving people to rise up to intercede, or to stand in the gap, for people so that He can act on their behalf. God moves mightily when we pray and intercede. We have the devil as a common enemy because God is for us.

Acts 12:5 (NKJV) Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.

Persecution is the only kind of suffering that Christians will face when we stand up for Jesus. When the Apostle Peter was thrown into prison for the cause, the entire church interceded for him, causing God to send an angel to free him from 16 guards. His chains fell off and the iron gate opened on its own; even the girl who opened the door responded in disbelief. We won’t be able to know or see how the hand of God is moving when we begin to intercede and stand in the gap for people.

Because Jesus has all the authority over the devil after His resurrection, we can intercede from a position of faith and confidence. Having disarmed all principalities, dominion and might, He is seated far above them. The church of the living God is the body of Christ, and Jesus is the head of the church. Therefore, if the devil is under Jesus’ feet, the church has the vested authority to ask the demonic forces behind the spiritual warfare or attack against the church, family or individual to back off. We are to take authority over the situation and enforce the victory of Jesus Christ!
