Plead Your Case to God

Jesus mentioned that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak. When we are under stress, we will either complain, murmur or we allow faith to rise up and declare what we believe. In King Jehoshaphat’s case (2 Chronicles 20:1-12) when he was facing enemies of a great multitude, he spoke to God and brought to His remembrance what He is obligated to do.

Isaiah 43:26 Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.

God is not offended if we bring the Word of God into His remembrance when we pray, especially when we stand on a promise of the finished work of Christ on the cross for us. God will watch over His word and perform it in our lives. In King Jehoshaphat’s seemingly impossible case, the promises laid out in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 belonged to the people of Judah because the King had made a conscious decision to worship and walk in the ways of God.

Do we have anything to plead to God when we are faced with an impossible situation?

Romans 8:33-35 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

These above scriptures are similar to what Jehoshaphat brought to God’s remembrance regarding provision, protection and deliverance. However, we are in a better position than them because God has justified or made us righteous through the blood of Jesus Christ. We are the children of God. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because we have the ability to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Furthermore, we have Jesus interceding for us at the right hand of the Father and the Holy Spirit helping us to pray when we are in a stressful situation. Therefore, we need to be convinced that nothing shall separate us from the love God.

We are able to bring our case before the throne of grace to find help and mercy in times of need. Tribulations come into our lives because the devil wants to steal the Word from us. But God is our provider in time of lack. He will face every difficult situation with us because He is our covenant partner. We expect God to speak to us and also share with us how to act in difficult situations because we are His children. We have the Holy Spirit as our designated helper and we also have the full counsel of the Word of God.

Therefore, when facing stressful situations, plead your case to God, bringing God’s Word to His remembrance knowing that He is not offended when we do so. God will help us when we have sought His face and when we are walking in His will.
