Perfect Peace In the Midst of a Perfect Storm
The forces of nature is powerful and it humbles the most experienced fisherman and through these experiences it can either bring out the best or the worst of the person.
Similarly, we can be caught with a “storm” in our lives which could be a health problem, a financial problem, a work problem or even a problem with our studies.
People in the world are looking for peace. The poor think they can have peace by being rich, the rich by becoming a person of influence or a person of higher status, the less learned by being more learned, the rich by giving to the poor, but it is all futile.
When Jesus was asked what the kingdom of God is like, Jesus answered:
Mark 4:31,32 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.
The mustard seed is very small and is easily blown or taken away while it is still in the form of a seed, but when it has grown into a huge tree, it becomes immovable because it has taken root in the ground.
Phil. 4:6-9 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
When we hear the Word, it is important for it to take root in our heart because that is where true faith is founded despite of the circumstances. When you are tempted to worry, find scriptures that deal with your anxieties. Once you find them, meditate on them and the goodness and faithfulness of God and build them into your inner consciousness. Build yourself a scriptural platform that will elevate you above your circumstances and help you cast your cares over to the Lord and you will find your peace even in the presence of a perfect storm.
