O You of Little Faith
ICS Daily Devotions
Matthew 6:30-32 (NKJV) Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
How do we establish strong faith in our lives? When we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we would want God’s will to be done on earth as He has planned in heaven for us. Just as faith arose when we heard the Gospel and we were enabled to reach out to receive Christ, faith to do something for God in the corporate and business world will also arise when we have heard from Him personally through a Rhema Word that’s spoken to us. Thereafter, we are to continue to listen to and study the Word as a good student of the Bible. As we study, listen to, and practise the Word of God in our lives, we will know Him better, and grow from little faith to strong faith.
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith comes by hearing the Word of Jesus. Jesus revealed and declared God the Father to us through His life, ministry, and the teaching of His Word. Therefore, faith increases as we get to know God more intimately by exercising our faith in Him based on what He has revealed to us in His Word. As a believer, we need to have faith in God and be confident that His promises will come to pass based on what He has spoken to us. We believe that we have received what we asked for the moment He has promised us, even though we have not seen it in the natural yet.
Everything has a process. It takes time for His promises to come to pass in our lives, so there is a time lag from the time He has promised us to us witnessing it happen in the natural, which could be days, weeks, months and even years depending on what we have asked and prayed for.
Numbers 23:19 (NKJV) “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
The entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, and God and His Word are One. Therefore, we can put our faith in the Word of God. He will watch over His Word to ensure that it will fulfil what it is purposed to do.
