Mobilising His Great Commission

Mobilising His Great Commission

Luke 10:1-2 (NKJV) After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.

Jesus is still building His church today. Jesus’ view of the church is strong, authoritative, vibrant, mission-minded, focused, influential, firm, vigorous and unyielding. The church will show His kind of Agape love and extend grace to one another as she pursues the mandate given to the local church. Only when the local church is strong can she be an effective witness to the community. There is absolutely nothing that can come in the way of the church of the living God because it is a church that will be able to confront the forces of darkness and enforce the victory of Jesus.

God’s desire is for His church to rise up to the call of world evangelism so that everyone will have a chance to hear the Gospel, repent and be saved. Therefore, He is mobilising His entire body of believers to move out of their places of comfort and reach out to the lost. He has made it known to us through the Great Commission.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Jesus gave this Great Commission just before His ascension to heaven. It was his last concern and it was for the lost. Therefore, Jesus’ last commission should be every believer’s first concern in life. He is asking every one of us to go out to our neighbours, our colleagues, our relatives and our friends to share the good news of the Gospel. He is compelling us in our hearts to be His spokespeople. Jesus is sending and mobilising His whole body to reach out to the lost with the Gospel!

Because there is a huge shortage of labourers, an opportune time must not be missed, so we are to pray that the Lord will send forth the labourers into the harvest field. We should respond to the Great Commission with urgency especially if we profess to love the Lord, the people and our loved ones.
