Living Out God’s Will
Luke 11:2 (NKJV) So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Living out a consecrated life in order to walk with God can be a challenge because of the need to bring our flesh into submission to the spirit. It is choosing to be yoked with God and allow-ing Him to be the stronger partner in the calling of our lives. Although righteousness is imputed to us, sanctification and consecration are a lifelong process.
All Christians should be living out a consecrated life, and God has made it possible through the Spirit of God living in us, in spite of hindrances such as our pride, lack of faith in God, fear of the unknown and losing control of our lives, and doubts about the character or the goodness of God. All of us are wonderfully and beautifully made by God who is the master craftsman, and He has a unique plan, purpose and calling for us. It is so important for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven for our lives, because we know that there is nothing bad or evil in heaven—every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Light!
Jesus taught us to pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven for our lives, which means diligently seek after God’s plan for our lives. We need to be praying for His will—His blueprint that is written in heaven—to be done in our lives while we are on earth and live a pur-pose driven life. However, if we want God’s will to be done in our lives and walk in step with Him, we need to find out what His plan is and agree with it now.
God is pleased when we walk by faith in His plan for us, and when we walk in step with Him, there will be no struggle or friction in the relationship. There will also be grace available for us, we will have the strength, wisdom and gifting to do what is required, and be able to operate in faith when He leads us to do something that is beyond our ability, because that will cause us to lean and rely on Him, and keep us humbled. Therefore, if we want to walk in agreement with Him regarding what He has in mind for us to do, we need to pray as Jesus has taught us in the Lord’s prayer.
