Living a Lifestyle of Giving
ICS Daily Devotions
Hebrews 7:8-9 (NKJV) Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives. Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak.
Living a lifestyle of giving is rooted in God’s biblical principles of stewardship. Tithing is an act of worship, honouring God with the first portion of our income. Freewill offerings and giving to those in need express love and demonstrate our trust in His provision. These practices reflect a heart of faith, knowing that God is our provider and sustainer.
Faithful giving begins with obedience to God’s Word. Malachi 3:10 challenges believers to bring their tithes into the storehouse, promising that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings. Giving is not merely a financial transaction but an act of faith that acknowledges God as the source of all we have.
Luke 6:38 (NKJV) Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
The purpose of financial blessings is to enable believers to fulfil God’s purposes on earth. This principle of sowing and reaping demonstrates that God multiplies our resources for His glory as we give generously.
Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV) The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.
God blesses us to be a blessing to others. A generous heart sees resources not as possessions to hoard but as opportunities to make an impact. Living a lifestyle of giving aligns us with God’s character and reflects His love for the world.
Giving extends beyond finances. It includes offering our time, talents, and service to meet the needs of others. By sharing what God has entrusted to us, we become His hands and feet, ministering to those in need. Acts of generosity—helping the poor, supporting missions, or strengthening the church—showcase God’s heart in action.
Tithing and giving freewill offerings are practical ways to exercise faith and stewardship. These practices ensure that God’s resources are used for His purposes, such as supporting the church, advancing missions, and providing for the needy. Living a life of faithful giving opens the door to God’s provision and blessings, ensuring that we always have enough to share.
2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV) God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
Faith in giving means trusting that God will supply all our needs. When we align our giving with God’s purposes, He blesses us abundantly so that we can continue to give.
Living a lifestyle of giving reflects God’s grace, strengthens our faith, and fulfils His call to be a blessing to others. By giving generously and joyfully, we honour Him and extend His love to the world.
