Live a Consecrated Life
Joshua 24:17-18 For the Lord our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way that we went and among all the people through whom we passed. And the Lord drove out from before us all the people, including the Amorites who dwelt in the land. We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God.
2 Peter 1:3 As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.
We were slave to sin just as the Israelites were in slavery in Egypt. God was faithful to raise up Moses to deliver them from Egypt when He heard their cry. Similarly, God sent Jesus to deal with the sin issue that held us in bondage. God has also given eternal life and blessed us with all the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places.
By the grace of God, we have the nature of God living in us. This grace enabled us that we are already seated with Christ in the heavenly places far above principalities, dominions and might. We are graciously hidden in Christ to be seen as righteous, blameless, holy, and accepted in the Beloved. We are children of God.
God wants us to have victory over the world, the flesh and the devil. We are like the people of Israel who have crossed over the Jordan through the water baptism that we have gone through. We were unworthy but Christ died for us while we were yet sinners, just as God had conquered the land for the Israelites. He then demanded that the people consecrate their lives to God. By the grace of God, we are a new creation and we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us and empowering us to rule over sin and temptation.
Romans 6:17-18 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Jesus was made to be sin for us on the cross of Calvary so that He could give us His righteousness as a gift. It has been imputed on us and we have the breastplate of righteousness. Jesus paid the price for sin and took upon all the curses of the law due to sin upon Himself for us. We are set free from the bondage of sin when we response to the gospel regarding what Christ has done for our lives. We are able to act and live in righteousness when we are born again. We are set free from sin! Sin no longer has any hold over us. We do not have to succumb or be dictated by the sin that used to hold us in bondage any more.
Are you still struggling with habitual sins in our lives? Is it smoking, gambling, drinking, or co-habiting? We are to practice and live a lifestyle that’s in line with the teaching of the Word. Ask God for help and believe the Scripture that you are free! God gave us everything that we need to be victorious and be more than conquerors. He is asking us to live a consecrated life for Him.
