Leadership

Ephesians 4:11-12 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Since God is a not a God of confusion and is a God of order, He had appointed the office of the Pastor, to be His under shepherd.

There is a mandate given to the church especially in the ministry and the role of the Senior Pastor is to lead the church towards the mandate that God has given the local church.

Spiritual leadership means taking responsibility and initiative. It means inspiring and organizing others so that together, we can reach a given goal. The vision is the common goal.

Leadership is the ability to lead a group of people from point A to point B. The Senior Pastor needs to know his goal by drawing down the blue print for the church from God. He needs to know the time and season that the church is in so that he can strategize, plan and execute it accordingly. No pastor is able to go at it alone to fulfil the vision therefore he needs the backing of the entire church to work together with the spiritual gifts that God has given them. The ability to motivate others is a major factor in spiritual leadership.

There should be nothing that’s done out of selfish ambition, pride or vain conceit. If it is left to the flesh and our carnal thinking then there will be chaos, division, and strife in the church. The Lord had to inspire Apostle Paul to write 1 Corinthians 13 that talks about love because many of the church members in Corinth were very carnal in their thinking. There were factions and divisions in the church where people were taking sides between Apollo and Paul. It is still happening today except it is about denominations and individualism. It is the work of the devil whenever there is strife, division and conflict regardless whether it is at home, the church or the office.

Everything that we do is done out of the foundation of love for the Lord and for the people.

Therefore one of the greatest encouragements that you can give any Senior Pastor is to give him full support by running with the vision of the church.

Hebrews 13:17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
