Know Your God Through The Word
Matt 16:15-16 (NKJV) He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
John 17:3 (NKJV) And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
The disciples walked with Jesus but did not have a full revelation of who Jesus really was until He had to ask them “who do you say that I am?”. For us today, it doesn’t mean that all of us will know God fully after we have received Christ. We will move from having a knowledge of God to knowing God. We will grow from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity.
John 5:19 (NKJV) Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
We are able to know God well when we read the Word. Especially the life and ministry of Jesus shows us the Son reflecting the character of the Father. In the Word, we will be able to read about what God expects of us, how to trust in Him, and how we are able to know His character and attributes. Isn’t comforting and assuring that we don’t have to read between the lines to know the work and character of God? Jesus made it plain simple for us that He does whatever He sees the Father was doing, therefore He declared and revealed God to us.
We are comforted from the Scriptures that Jesus ministered to people from all walks of life. He has good thoughts and plan for our lives. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts so are His ways higher than our ways. We read about how He has taken care of His covenant people in the Old Covenant. How much more will He also take care of His children through the New Covenant established through the blood of Jesus Christ! He has given us the promise that He will never leave nor forsake us. Therefore, we need not fear of what will happen, be it today or tomorrow. We are truly in good hands. God’s hands!
We are able to walk with God and know Him through the Word. We will taste and see the goodness of God when we walk out the lifestyle of faith in the consecrated life! Be encouraged to carry out your devotion daily by praising, praying and through the reading Scriptures. We will learn about the person of God when we read the Word. If we have devoted time to do our devotion and spent quality time with God then we will know that He is speaking to us from the Scriptures and through the witness of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
When we offer up ourselves as a living sacrifice to serve God including being an effective witness in the corporate world, then we will experience His perfect will. We will also not conform to this world if we are confident and secure in His love. We can only prove of His good, acceptable and perfect will when we consecrate ourselves to walk in His plan or will for our lives. We need to renew our mind and trust that He is good. He has plan to prosper us holistically, materially and give us an expected end!
