How to Meditate on the Truth
Philippians 4:8-9 (NKJV) Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these Do, and the God of peace will be with you.
If we want to keep the peace of God, we must meditate on the truth, and here are some examples in situations that we commonly face.
Travel restrictions: I am a beloved child of God. He is interested in my life because my name is written in the Book of Life and He has inscribed me on the palm of His hands. I am hidden in Christ and have the imputed righteousness of God. His eyes and ears are on me. I’ve cast all my anxieties on Him, and He cares for me and my family. Though I may be hard-pressed on every side, I won’t be crushed; perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken because He’ll never leave me; struck down but not destroyed. God’s power is working within me to give me the ability, strength, and wisdom in my situation. God’s grace is sufficient for me because His strength is fully manifested in my weakness. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Job security: God has a good plan for my life. He has thoughts of peace and not of evil, a good future and an expected end for me (Jeremiah 29:11). Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. If we love and have good plans for our children, how much more does God for me (Matthew 7:11)? Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding, in all my ways acknowledge Him and He will make my path straight. Therefore, I will trust Him and place my life in His hands. God didn’t give me a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Therefore, fear and anxiety don’t belong to me, but I have a sound and balanced mind. I choose to anchor my faith in the His Word because faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Therefore, I’m undeterred by what I see and feel.
Finances: God is the creator of heaven and earth. The Garden of Eden had no lack, and He brought the Israelites into a land flowing with milk and honey. Therefore, He shall supply all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). God is my Jehovah Jireh, my provider. I needn’t worry about what I will eat and wear because He knows my needs. He who feeds the sparrows and looks after the wild lilies will surely feed and clothe me. He gives good gifts to His children including businesses and jobs. I am blessed in my coming in and my going out, and whatever I place my hand to do I am blessed. He owns the sheep on a thousand hills and will open the window of heaven to pour down blessings that there won’t be enough room to contain as I tithe faithfully and obediently (Malachi 3:10), and He’ll multiply the seed that I’ve sown through freewill offerings (2 Corinthians 9:10). I am contented with life because godliness with contentment is great gain. (1 Tim 6:6).
