Holding onto the Word

2 Corinthians4:4 (NKJV) whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

The work of the devil is very clear. His job is to kill, steal and destroy our lives. He will create circumstances to steal our peace, love and joy. He will want to steal the dream that we have received from God. He will want us to give up serving the Lord. He will manipulate the situation and circumstances to make us give up the word that God has given to us! He will want to shift our faith! He will tell us that we have heard wrongly from the Lord despite getting a clear book, chapter and verse that the Lord had spoken to us!

All of us work very hard to manage these challenging situations in our lives. We think that it is the end and the answer to our prayers are not forth coming! It is during a time like this that it is a fight of faith either to hold onto the Word of promise or to believe in the circumstances. It will boil down to our conviction of what we deemed to have received from God.

Many Christians when they are faced with a challenge in their lives, they think that God doesn’t care about them. They think that God is the one who messed it up for them. They think that it is God who is making their lives difficult.

Mark4:14 -17 (NKJV) The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.

The most important thing for us is to keep our heart in the right condition. When we have consecrated our lives to God then the word from God will be an anchor to our faith. The Word gives us a firm footing when tribulation arises. The devil knows the power of the Word in our heart as it creates faith in God. The objective is to steal our peace, joy and faith in God before the breakthrough. Therefore, he knows that it would be ideal if he is able to steal it from us before it takes root in our heart. He has created the tribulation to shift our attention onto the problem rather than focusing on God’s Word.

We should hold onto the Word that we have received in our prayer of consecration and not allow the Word to be uprooted or stolen from our lives. Keep our faith in what God has spoken to us.
