He Cares For You
ICS Daily Devotions
1 Peter 5:7 (AMP) Casting the [whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
The Apostle Paul encouraged us to pray in every circumstance about anything that causes anxiety or worry in our lives. We should make it known to God by calling and crying out to Him, because He is a God who hears.
The moment we are saved, we need to know that we no longer live without hope and without God in this world. We tend to think of the worst-case scenario whenever something happens to us. Anxiety is built on fear—fear of the unknown or possible scenarios. Fear is a spiritual force that can cripple us and keep us busy thinking about the possible outcomes, but does nothing to resolve the problem. Fear is an act of the evil one that causes us to focus on the issue rather than on God.
As believers, we can offload it to God and rest in His love. God is greater, more powerful and resourceful and has more wisdom. Nothing is too difficult for Him. God has established a covenant with us so that man’s problem becomes His problem, because it is a covenant obligation between partners. If He has resolved our sin issue as our covenant partner, there is nothing in this life He cannot help us with. We must understand what covenant is and see God as our covenant partner, so we can draw on His resources. God’s love, established through a covenant, commits Him to be with us in good and bad times!
God repeatedly reminds us to pray and to cast all our cares upon Him, but prayer and casting our cares on Him are choices we must make. We need to come before Him, tell Him specifically about our situation, and ask Him for help. Speaking to Him about the situation also serves as a release valve for our emotions, helps us cope with our fears, and enables us to receive from the Lord in His presence. Praying in the Spirit also helps to strengthen our inner man when we are stressed.
You matter a great deal to God! He cares for you regardless of what you have or have not done, but by His pure grace. Therefore, we can run to the throne of grace in the storms of our lives. Let’s always remember that we have the right and the opportunity to come to Him and draw on Him in time of need! He has invited us to do so when He said, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Reflection: How does knowing that God cares for you and wants to help you when you are fearful and anxious encourage you, and how will you apply this truth to your life right now?
