Growing Faith

Hearing from God personally is critical because His Word is an anchor for our souls in the midst of storms in life. While faith is in the spirit man, it is the soul which is our mind and emotion that need to have the peace when we face tribulations so that we will be patient while waiting for God’s promises and plans to come to pass.

Hebrews 6:12 That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

We ought to know that God hears our prayers even before we utter them. The time lag between the Amen and the answers to the prayers is where our patience and faith are being tested.

There isn’t a promise in the Bible where it says that life will be without trials and tribulations when we are walking in the will of God. In fact, Jesus mentioned to us that in this world there will be tribulations but told us to be in good cheer because He has overcome the world. We are more than conquerors through Christ – a phrase that we can undoubtedly recite over and over. We all have a common enemy who will find all ways and means to shift our faith and focus on God towards the trials as we follow God’s plans. The enemy desires to derail our faith in God, cause us to doubt or even deny Christ. It is the job of the evil one to sift our faith and it is Christ who lives to intercede for us!

It will be unjust and unrighteous of God if He requires us to have faith in Him but does not give us the means to build up our faith. In fact, we are in a better position than the disciples because they heard the teachings of Jesus but we have logos word written in the Bible for us to constantly meditate on so that the seed of God’s Word will take roots in our hearts. We can listen to the Word of God and run to it whenever we are being challenged by the evil one. Our faith will be strengthened because faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Faith does not just grow on its own, so take joy when we are being tested in lives, and have confidence that we have the greatest weapon in the world, the Word of God.
