God Is Still El Elyon Today

El Elyon as we have studied before is the Lord Most High.

Gen 14:19-20, 22 And he blessed him and said: ” Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.

Besides setting up an altar to invoke God in prayer, Abram wanted to continue to worship God by giving back to God, and to remember that it was God, the Most High, the El Elyon who prospered him and not the King of Sodom or the world. Part of His worship was to give a tithe of what rightfully belongs to God because God is the Lord Most High, the El Elyon to him!

Melchizedek is not of the tribe of Levi which shows that there are true priests that are not Levites. Melchizedek is a type of Christ in the Old Testament. Melchizedek was a prophet, priest and King, a rare combination found also in Jesus. Melchizedek blessed Abraham which means he took a position of superiority over Abraham and Abraham by giving a tithe to Melchizedek showed that Abraham recognized Melchizedek’s superiority. Melchizedek was known to be the King of righteousness and peace and this fits the attributes of Jesus. He obeyed the law of the tithe.

Ephesians 1:20-23 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,21 FAR ABOVE ALL principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come .22And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

In today’s context, while we do not fight a physical enemy like Abram did, we have a spiritual enemy.

When you believe that you worship the Lord Most High, you can come against the enemy from a position of authority and to enforce the victory that Jesus has achieved for us. We need to take back what the devil has stolen from our lives by invoking on the name of the Most High, our El Elyon!
