God is a Healer
John 1:18 (NKJV) No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has DECLARED Him.
John 14:10-11 (NKJV) Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
Jesus is the word of God that became flesh and walked among men. Jesus declared God the Father to us because they are one. Jesus also declared to us that God is the Healer.
Matthew 11:4-6 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
Acts 10:38 (NKJV) How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
The Bible is a progressive revelation and Jesus gave us absolute clarity about the triune God through His words and works. It cannot be clearer than to have the Son of God who walked the streets of Jerusalem. He came to declare God the Father to us through His ministry. Jesus told His disciples that if they see Him, then they have seen the Father. In fact, they should know Him by the work that he was doing.
Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit who went about doing good, preaching the gospel and healing all who were sick because God was with him. Jesus told John the Baptist’s disciples not to doubt who he was and based it on all the good works that he had done! It is the work of God. The gospel of Jesus Christ involved the salvation of mankind, as well as healing and the deliverance from the devil. We witnessed in Jesus’ ministry that he healed everyone who came to him for healing regardless whether they were Jews or Gentiles.
There were occasions when he went to them to minister to the them individually, like to the man at the pool of Bethesda, He spat on the ground to make mud to heal the blind man, He ministered to the man whose son was oppressed by the devil. He healed the man who was lowered from the roof by his friends and the lame walked. He did not turn down anyone who came to him for healing.
As a contrast, he could not do anything great in his hometown because they doubted him and didn’t receive Him. Doubt, unbelief and the refusal to accept God’s help hinder the work of God for us and among us! We need to understand that Jesus showed us the Father and the goodness of His character. Just as Jesus walked around and healed everyone, we can also expect God to do miracles in our lives if we just believe.
