Acts 17:28 (NKJV) For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
Someone might argue that it is hard work that has brought forth his or her wealth. But let us not forget it is God who gives us life. No matter how rich and famous we are, we cannot give ourselves life on Earth. We cannot extend our lives. The source of life is God. It was the breath of God that brought Adam into a living being after he was made from the earth. We will not be able to work, make money, do well in business unless God gives us life. Everything stops when our spirit departs from this earth. Similarly, nobody is able to obtain a right standing before God based on his or her own strength.
Galatians 2:21(NKJV) I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.
We believe that we have been given the imputed righteousness when we received Christ into our lives. Our salvation has absolutely nothing to do with our good works and it is purely the grace of God. It is God who has redeemed us through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is also God who has given us the ability to obtain wealth so that He may establish His covenant.
Deut 8:18 (NKJV) “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
God is a God of covenant. Therefore, He operates within the covenant relationship with us. Everything is shared in a covenant relationship regardless whether it is material goods or wisdom. God has no problem to provide for our daily necessity by honoring His covenant. He provides us a job or business to provide for our families. He provides for us based on His calling and gifting that He has given us. He has provided some of us with very good business acumen and others with a skill set for work. If God is truly our Provider rather than people then we can be unmoved and content in any circumstances. Our trust will be fully in the Lord. This is a very strong foundation for a believer’s life to ensure that he or she will not compromise with the world while under pressure! He ensures that we always have all sufficiency and have an abundance for every good work.
How does God provide for us? It will be dependent on us paying tithe and free will offering where we really exercise our faith in trusting in Him. It is sowing and multiplying, and it is the opening of the windows of heaven as it is mentioned in the the book of Malachi that refers to being obedient in tithing. These are two avenues for the Lord to ensure that we always have all sufficiency and abundance.
There will be a constant flow of provision when God can trust you to be a blessing to others! You are blessed to be a blessing! Honoring God by paying our tithe is different from sowing sparingly.
2 Cor 9:6-7 (NKJV) But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
We should remember that obedience is better than sacrifices. We can be giving sacrificially or big amount to other causes but what God requires is obedience what He asked for in Scriptures. Tithing is paid to the storehouse, which is the church of the living God, where the word is being preached and taught. We should live a lifestyle of giving. We worship the Lord with our tithe and we give free willed offering because it is the Lord’s money. We should be led to give towards whatever He wants us to give freely and joyfully to.
