Faith in the Word of God
Matthew 7:24-29 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall”.….for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
In this story both men heard the Word, both experienced the storm, but the results were different! Acting on the Word put a strong foundation under the wise man’s house that could not be moved and his house suffered no loss. The foolish man’s house might have been easier to build but it had no firm foundation to stand on. Why? Because meditation makes God’s word a reality to us, we must apply them to our circumstances and execute them. We will be the wise man that acts on the Word. Our “house” will stand strong because the foundation of doing God’s Word will make it withstand all adversities.
There will be “rain”, “floods”, “wind” and “storms” in life but if our faith is built on the right foundation then it is immovable.
Grace and peace will be seen in our lives when we know God and react to the situation by trusting Him through having faith in His Word and His character.
In order to hear God’s Word and act on it requires faith. Faith in His Word to us.
Romans 10.17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
When we hear the Word and begin to believe in the Word and verbalize what we believe, it will become a part of us and faith will begin to rise up within us.
As we read the word, we should speak it and confess it with our mouths. Faith will begin to rise up within us, in our hearts. God’s words are filled with faith..
Just reading the Bible without allowing it to enter into our heart will not do us any good. We must know the reality of the Word of God and live in God’s Word.
Knowing that milk and food gives nourishment to our bodies does not help us until we drink it or eat it, then it will become a part of us.
Understanding the Word is the beginning of building up our faith in God because His word and Himself are one.
When the Word is absent then faith is also absent. God’s word produces faith in our hearts. Faith grows in our hearts when we believe and say what the Word of God says.
This is the principle of believing in our hearts and confessing with our mouths.
