Experiencing God During a Perfect Storm
COVID-19 threw the greatest curve ball for 2020 when the world’s second largest economy came to a complete halt. To make matters worse, the COVID-19 has now affected almost the entire world.
Have you ever heard some people say that the ancient Bible is no longer relevant for us today? Of course, many of those who mentioned that the ancient Bible is no longer relevant today is due to the fact that they want to live a promiscuous lifestyle and the Bible is telling them that it is a sinful life. There are many people who have lost their moral bearings in this world. While it is definitely wrong to live a lifestyle that’s contrary to what God has designed for us from the time of Genesis , there is another issue that we need to address. The issue is how do we apply our faith and experience victory just like the saints of the Old and New Testament. This is especially true during challenging times like these.
Does God slumber during times like these? How should a Christian live out their life during a crisis in order for the world to know that we are different when we experience peace and joy?
How do we model for our children regarding how to place our faith in God especially when we know that they will be in a very different environment 15—20 years from now?
We should not panic like the rest of the world.
What gives us a firm footing as the whole world is being shaken?
Mark 4:37-41 (NKJV) And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
We have entered into a perfect storm in our current situation. Beside the COVID-19 outbreak, we have a potential black swan situation in the economic front and there are different natural calamities around the world. We want to believe that something good will come out of this episode because the wisdom of men has been pushed to its limit. We are pushed into a situation where we will have to live by faith in God alone because God is the only one who does not change like a shifting shadow in this ever-changing environment. It will be the Lord who is the anchor for our soul and our faith! The ONLY SAFE HAVEN is walking in the perfect will of God.
