Don’t Grieve the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 4:30-32 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Sanctification is a lifelong process. Though we are blessed with all the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus and we are hidden in Christ, we still need to deal with the work of the flesh on a daily basis, and we need to have a renewed mind in order to have victory over the flesh by walking in the Spirit.
The easiest and fastest way to learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit is to allow God to put His finger on anything in your life that displeases the Holy Spirit and deal with it.
The Holy Spirit is a person with feelings, the mind of God and a voice. We are sensitive to the Holy Spirit because He speaks into our heart or “spirit man” since our conscience has been washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. He is full of love, grace and mercy, and He is gentle in His ways, but because He is holy, He is very sensitive towards the sins in our lives and He will keep us accountable by convicting us of our sin, righteousness and judgement.
We will usually find it very unsettling to do what our flesh desires that’s contrary to the Spirit, and experience an uncomfortable feeling whenever there is a tussle between the voice of the Holy Spirit and the desire of our flesh, but we have a choice to live in victory, and our faith muscle to overcome temptation will be developed every time we choose to yield to the Holy Spirit and trust in His empowerment.
Sometimes, we may find ourselves torn between the attraction of the world and being close to the Lord, but praise the Lord that He will grant us the strength and grace to overcome the lure of the world through the life of the Spirit in Christ Jesus. The law of Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death, and we can have victory over temptation if we choose not to yield to it.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Let us decide not to be lured by the devil and the flesh and cause grief to the Holy Spirit.
