Diligent to Sow and Happy to Receive

2 Corinthians 9:6,10 (NKJV) but this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully… Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

Faithful stewards of God’s finances should not hoard money but are sensitive to what the master wants them to give.

If we want to trust in the Lord and not in the world, we must remember the biblical financial principle that God will provide us with more when we have proven to be good and faithful stewards and administers of His finances. Some people may feel bad about receiving as a result of their giving, but what they have missed is that the purpose of receivingand the multiplication that comes with our givingis not just for us and our families, but so that we can give more to those in need and be channels of God’s blessings. It is not so much about us, but others that God wants us to touch. As the church is the body of Christ, God will work through His body to bless and love, and because the Holy Spirit lives in us, He will prompt us to do something on His behalf.

The fact that churches have stopped meeting physically should not stop us from sowing through freewill offering because opportunities to give are widely available online. Our giving should be done cheerfully and without compulsion, and God will only supply and multiply to us after we have faithfully sown into those areas that He has instructed us!

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NKJV) There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.

God will multiply the seed that we have sown so that we can keep giving to different causes. It is an act of righteousness when we give according to how the Lord leads us, which can be for missions, the poor and needy or anything that He has placed on our hearts. It is a test of obedience, stewardship, and faithfulness whenever the Lord prompts us to give. If we are not faithful with the little, why should God entrust us with more?
