Conquerors Through Christ
There are different circumstances that will come before us and all of us will go through different kinds of trials, tribulations and oppositions in life, even when we are walking in the will of God. It is easy for us to see the challenges as “giants” especially when we have never faced them before, or that when we think they are out of our league. At times like these, we ought to remind ourselves that there is a rich blessing from God of us to faithfully press on. It is the gift of His grace to us in Christ that requires us to rise up and boldly seize hold of those challenges.
God made a covenant with Abraham to give the people of Israel a promised land. After only two months since leaving Sinai, and only two years since leaving Egypt, the Israelites are on the brink of completing their time in the wilderness. However, the men who spied out the land came back with the report as we read in Numbers 13:31-33 31BUT the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
Did the men forget how God fought for them when He brought them out of Egypt and provided food for them in the wilderness? They added the words BUT and NEVERTHELESS; they shifted from the truth of God’s word to the GREATNESS OF THE OBSTACLES.
To see ourselves as conquerors, we need to see ourselves as how God sees us. We are not grasshoppers but covenant partners with God. How the Heavenly Father sees us is based on who we are in Christ. This should be our attitude, faith, conviction and belief that we can be bold in the face of life’s adversities, trials and tribulations because we have a covenant God and no enemies in life is greater than our God.
