All We Like Geese

Amos 3:3 (NKJV) Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

Philippians 2:1-2 (NKJV) Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfil my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Hard work is the bedrock for success for any company or organisation. Without hard work and the entire team strategising, executing and following up on the business, it is doomed to fail. In uncertain times or when the business has plateaued, sometimes reinventing itself to adapt to the changing course is imperative. It should not be any different for a church, although a church is not a business and the change in our lives is the work of the Holy Spirit. There is a lot of work to be done to enable the church to minister well to each member and to be an effective witness to the world. The work never stops. What seems like something simple at face value has a lot of backstories; hard work has been put in by people behind the scenes. The success will all depend on the Holy Spirit doing His work, but as members of the church, we do what we can within our abilities and different gifts.

Every year, big flocks of geese migrate for the winter, covering up to 2,000-3,000 miles of flight to reach their destination. This is a big project and things happen along the way. But the geese have empathy for those amongst them who are injured, and they encourage each other. They exhibit great teamwork. We can learn much from these geese. We need to work well together as a body of believers for the church to thrive and be found faithful in the event the Lord returns during our time.

Every church has a vision, a calling, or a mandate from the Lord. We have been entrusted as stewards of His work, and everyone is accountable to Him for the gifts that He has given us. It would serve us, the church, and the community well for us to be aligned with this vision for us to move forward in sync. The church can accomplish more in unity.
