Active Life of Faith
Colossians 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Ephesians 2:6 And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus
Jesus’ position is far above all principalities, power, might and dominion. The demonic forces are under His feet, and we do not need to worry about the devil and his hierarchy of demons.
Not only that, we also have the nature of God as a new creation. God wants us to live out the divine nature embedded in the spirit man, which has escaped the corruption in the world caused by sin and lust.
Romans 6:4 Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life.
We have faith that our old self was buried together with Christ and has been resurrected with Him into a new life. And God has given us all the tools to live a victorious life in Him. Even though we are saved by faith and not by works, the works of righteousness should actively follow our faith. We must not cheapen the priceless grace we have received from God through careless living.
As Christians, we are called to live a sanctified life which is a process that continues progressively throughout the believer’s lifetime on earth, by us taking off the old man and putting on the new man. The old has passed and the new has come. Our old man and lifestyle have been crucified and buried with Christ and therefore, let us have nothing to do with our old lifestyle. In this way, we grow from spiritual infancy towards spiritual maturity.
We are not forced to grow spiritually but we should do it out of love for Christ and understanding that living a sanctified or consecrated life will release the full potential in us for what we are to do on earth. By this, we can also show to people around us the positive difference in our lives compared with theirs and that they may be convicted in the hearts by the Holy Spirit to come to Jesus.
As Christians, we need to know that we have a new identity and we then have to have faith in this new identity and behave accordingly towards spiritual maturity. Such faith and behavior are pleasing to God.
