A Life of Surrender

Mat 11:28-30 Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

A life of entire surrender to Jesus is the secret of perfect rest. We used to live life independent of God but now we are saved, we seek to walk with God and surrender our entire life to Him. The rest is in Christ by choosing to be yoked to Him so that two wills is in one accord. Being yoked with Him is to abide in Him and thus we will go wherever He leads us and planned for us. We do not pull in different direction so that we will move in a peaceful, smooth direction without struggle or friction.

On the other hand, if we are yoked with the world, we will have heavy burden and sorrow. If we decide to live independent of God’s will then we need to be prepared to reap the consequences that come along with our decision. In time of crisis, there is no peace, joy and the faith to stand on God’s work. We may even feel as though God is not blessing our plans but the actual fact is that He might not have asked us to do it in the first place.

ROM 12:2 And do not conform to this world but be transform by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT WILL OF GOD.

As we seek the will of God in our lives, we need to build on the foundation that God loves us and has a good, acceptable and perfect plan or will for our lives. Sometimes it can be agonizing and faith stretching as you make decision with nothing in front of you. Nevertheless, we need to lay all our motives or rights at the altar as a living sacrifice to God because we trust that His will is best for us.

There are 3 safeguards to know God’s will for our lives
1) Pray and ask God to speak to you primarily through His Word
2) Be sensitive to the leading and witness of the Holy Spirit
3) Seek godly counsel and share with them what you think God is leading you to do.

With all these safeguards, take a step of faith if God has spoken to go ahead with the plan. Be humble and have the courage to accept a NO for an answer.
