Knowing God
What will really help us to be resilient is knowing God. It is the key to staying resilient in the midst of an adversity or a crisis.
Romans 5:1, 6 (AMP) Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, [let us grasp the fact that] we have peace with God [and the joy of reconciliation with Him] through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). …. While we were still helpless [powerless to provide for our salvation], at the right time Christ died [as a substitute] for the ungodly.
Knowing God can either be an easy or a complex process, depending on whether or not we are willing to take God’s word at face value. It is not God’s intention that knowing Him should be complicated or difficult since He has already sent Jesus to us as an atoning sacrifice. He has also given us the full counsel of His word in the Bible. There is a huge difference between knowing God and knowing of God. When we know God, we know what He will or will not do, just like how we would vouch for a friend whom we know well. When we only know of God, we may still have doubt and unbelief. It’s akin to having secondhand information about God without knowing Him personally.
Do you doubt God’s love for you? Knowing God and His love for us will help us stay resilient, no matter how difficult the situation which we are facing. Knowing Him will help us tremendously as we incorporate it as a foundation in our lives.
The scripture above reveals that we were powerless and helpless to deal with our own spiritual bankruptcy and unable to stand righteous before God. We were doomed for eternal damnation after Adam and Eve sinned because our strength and effort were insufficient to achieve righteousness. We had sold ourselves out to Satan.
God is truly a gracious Father. He established an unconditional covenant with Abraham in order to send forth the Messiah and save mankind. When we come to know God, we will realize that He loves us unconditionally.
