Rest Assured in His Word
Mark 11:23(NKJV) For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
When Jesus was hungry, He found an early bloomer fig tree full of leaves without any fruit. Jesus cursed the tree that no one will ever eat any fruit from it again. Jesus is the God of creation, and He wasn’t being unreasonable because the fig tree with leaves should have had figs. The fig tree was still standing in its position full of leaves after Jesus had cursed it. However, the next day the tree was all withered up. What the naked eye could not see was the start of the withering process at its root the moment Jesus cursed it. Likewise, we will not be able to witness what is happening in the spiritual realm the moment we speak to our own “mountain”. Something is set in motion the moment we speak to the “mountain” (i.e. the obstacles or challenges) in our lives. We might not see any changes in the natural just like nothing happened immediately after Jesus cursed the fig tree. We need to have faith to believe that something has happened the moment we have spoken to the “mountain”. The naked eye cannot see what has been set in motion in the spiritual realm, but it takes time to witness it in the natural realm and we should not doubt during this process.
Doubt questions whether it is truly possible even though God has promised us in His Word. We do not believe that it is possible or it can be done. We do not believe in the supernatural because we are trained that seeing is believing. We will begin to doubt if we focus on the natural realm. We are used to looking at the natural realm for immediate results. We are used to thinking that it is silly and foolish to speak to the situation! This is the reason Jesus is teaching us to believe the moment we have prayed and not doubt in our hearts.
James 1:6 (NKJV) But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
This verse talks about asking God for wisdom when we need it. Wisdom is applied knowledge but the wisdom from God is something supernatural. We are not able to see the impartation of wisdom after we have asked God for it. Thus, there is a tendency for us to doubt that it is possible for God to grant us wisdom liberally without reproach. We are skeptical over many truths mentioned in the Bible. Our finite minds are not able to comprehend the infinite God, therefore we will question the possibility of the promises mentioned in the Bible. We limit God because of our doubt in His promises. This wisdom that we have asked from the Lord will be dropped into our spirit man as an idea to know how to deal with a situation and it will enlighten the mind. When a God’s idea is dropped into our spirit man and we process it in our mind, we will discover that it works perfectly! If we believe and are open to God dropping such ideas and strategies into our spirit man, then we will receive them. It is a supernatural impartation. We should open our hearts and receive it by faith and rest assured in the Word of God.
