Aligned with God
1 Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV) Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV) For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Our reflection on what Jesus has done for us should lead to changes or adjustments to our lives so that we are aligned with Him.
We are the living stones that make up the temple of God today, because God is dwelling in every one of us instead of a building. So how are you treating the temple of God—your body that has been bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ? If you have unclean vices, or are constantly overworked without adequate rest or exercise, are you glorifying God with it? God’s temple must not be defiled, and it is a matter of choice, because the law of the Spirit of Christ Jesus through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit has made it possible for us to break free from all these.
1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV) But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;
Jesus who is our High Priest in heaven has abolished the sacrificial system on earth by offering His blood in the heavenly tabernacle. There is no longer any need for sacrifices because He was the ultimate sacrifice that appeased God’s wrath towards the sin of men. Whoever calls upon His name will be saved because of His work of atonement or redemption.
All of us make up the temple of God as a body of believers because the Holy Spirit lives in us. We are born again into the royal family of God. We have full access to the Heavenly Father’s throne of grace through the blood of Jesus to find help and mercy in our time of need, and we can approach God with a clean and cleansed conscience because of the righteous position imputed to us.
All Christians are priests to God who offer up sacrifices through Jesus Christ. As such, we are to worship Him through our praise, worship, and acts of service. Our praises are like incense that goes up to heaven before the Lord.
All of us need to intentionally adjust our attitudes towards God, whether as the leader of the church, family, company, or our own lives. It is when parents are serious about God that their children will align themselves with Him. Similarly, it is when a church leader is aligned with God that the whole church will be aligned with Him, and if the corporate head of a Christian company is aligned with God, he will also set values, principles and practices that are glorifying to God.
