The New Man
Ephesians 4:24(NKJV) And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
The Apostle Paul is encouraging the church in Ephesus to walk in the newness of life through the new man. The new man is a new creation made in accordance to God because God is Spirit. We have a spirit and a soul, and we live in this body. The new man is created in true righteousness and holiness. Since we have the nature of God and the new creation in us we are therefore able to take hold of these promises to claim prosperity in the soul by walking in the truth!
One of the last areas of our lives that we need to deal with until we die is the flesh and it affects the prosperity of the soul. God has given us the ability to walk in the new man, therefore it is a matter of whether we want to exercise this ability or not!
Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
We are asked to have our minds renewed with the word of God. Nobody is able to do it for us except ourselves.
An example of a renewed mind is to think in this manner based on biblical truth :
“I am a new creation in Christ. I am a new man created according to God in holiness and righteousness, therefore I am able to choose to free myself from unrighteous acts and practices. I am free from the slavery of habitual sins. I am able to reign over the habitual sin because I have the nature of God in me and the Holy Spirit empowers me. Instead of reacting in the realm of the soul, I choose to walk in the Spirit by yielding to His prompting. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. I am able to love and forgive. I choose not to allow bitterness to take root in my heart. I am connected with the Holy Spirit because He lives in my heart. I have a clean and cleansed conscience because it has been washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I am able to trust my conscience. God will also speak through my conscience. God speaks and leads me through the spirit man. I make my choices in life based on what He tells me and gives me in the new creation.”
Our spiritual prosperity is tied to how much our mind is renewed with these truths and the mind is found in the realm of the soul. It has to be renewed with the Word of God and our heart has to yield to the Holy Spirit. We have to act on this truth if we desire for our soul to prosper. We will experience prosperity of the soul the more we embrace the lifestyle of the new man. It is a choice that God has given us and He also has given us the ability to walk in the newness of life.
