The Fullness of My Soul
3 John 2b (NKJV) be in health, just as your soul prospers.
What are some important biblical truths that we need to know and act upon in order for our souls to prosper?
Spiritually speaking, the positional truth that we need to enable us to stand confidently before God has been achieved and done by Jesus Christ. In fact, there is absolutely nothing that we are able to add to the completed work or redemptive work of Jesus Christ or else Jesus would have died in vain. Every other religion emphasizes on doing something, but Christianity declares that it is done and finished by Jesus Christ. We are very blessed compared with the people in the world. We are born-again. We are hidden in Christ. We have a restored relationship with God. We have peace with God because of the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. We are blessed with all the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We are hidden in Christ where we are seen as righteous, holy and blameless. God is for us, not against us and nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God. We should be able to sleep very soundly with these convictions. PTL and Glory to God who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus! Truly, let the redeemed of the Lord say, “I am redeemed and blessed!”
You might ask, “If this is true then why am I not prospering in the area of my emotions, relationships and mind?” Why do some Christians have such messy lives and marriages? This is because we can still be very carnal in our ways, refusing to grow and walk in the truth even though we could have been believers for many years.
The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 that we are three-part beings, namely spirit, soul and body. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword that is able to divide between the spirit and the soul. The word of God is able to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. If the word of God is able to differentiate between the soul and spirit then it means that the soul and the spirit have different functions.
Ezekiel 11:19 (NKJV) Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh.
In the Old Testament, the heart of stone caused men to be rebellious and hardened against God’s ways, laws and statutes. The sin nature controlled them. They were not able to overcome sin and temptations. The soul dictates and rules our lives before we are born-again. However, we are able to overcome the dictation of the soul and the flesh in order to reign in life through the new creation with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We are to walk in the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that will help us to overcome the law of sin and death. We are new creations with the nature of God in us.
