My Peace I Give to You
Romans 5:1 (NKJV) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
If Jesus had dealt with the sin issue and had broken the sting of death and the power of fear over us, then there is absolutely nothing to fear. Heaven is the most wonderful place and no-where on earth is comparable with it.
John 14:27 (NKJV) Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
It is a peace that is divine in origin. It is a kind of peace that cannot be disrupted by the prob-lems, disturbances and difficulties of life. It is a peace that will not waver and cannot be shak-en or destroyed. It is God’s will for us to have peace in our lives. God’s own peace which He Himself possesses, is given to us. Remember, all that our covenant partner possesses belongs to us and peace is one of them. Draw upon His peace when you are troubled and anxious. Rest in His love and faithfulness. God has given us His peace and it is different from worldly peace. God’s peace is present even in the midst of a perfect storm.
Philippians 4:9 (NKJV) The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
It is a peace that is present in all circumstances! God’s plan and will is for us to have that peace which He has given to us. It is a supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding. It is inexplicable.
Peace comes about when we are aware that God is with us. It is always God’s desire to be with us. Jesus assured the disciples of this, and it is also applicable to us as the Holy Spirit dwells in us. He is our teacher, helper and COMFORTER. He is always there for us. This peace comes from God. The Holy Spirit who is our counselor, helps us in times of need. He is the one who will bring scriptures to our remembrance so that we can maintain that peace which can be stolen if we choose to look, think and be worried about our situation instead of focusing on the Word. This peace of God is in proportion to how much we allow the circumstances to af-fect us. Remember the devil wants to steal the Word from our lives so that he can steal the peace and joy from it.
Jesus and the Apostle Paul were both telling us not to be anxious, “Let not your heart be trou-bled…”
John 14:1 (NKJV). The thing about anxieties, worries and concerns is that we will never be able to overcome the problems, circumstances and situations that we are in. Therefore, we need to begin to pray and cast our cares, anxieties and concerns upon the Lord, and thereafter begin to praise and thank Him.
Once we know who we are in Christ, fear will be driven out because the peace of God belongs to us. Peace and fear cannot co-exist. The absence of fear is peace.
