God and His Word Are One
Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV) So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
God will always honour His Word and watch over His Word to perform it in our lives to accomplish whatever He has purposed for it, because God and His Word are one. God does not change like a shifting shadow, or frequently changes His mind based on His feelings and moods—He changes not. He will make good whatever He has spoken. Therefore, if God has given you a “Yes” to your prayer request, you can rest assured that it will come to pass because He honours His Word.
Exodus 6:7-8 (NKJV) I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.’”
God’s character is revealed in His dealing with the people of God. God honours His Word through the generations. He will make good what He has promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Even now, He is delivering His promise to this generation as He speaks. This Scripture records the promises and reassurance that God gave the people of Israel when He raised Moses up to deliver them from slavery. The Israelites could not perceive what the land looked like nor did they know how the Lord was going to deliver them. They just had to walk by faith and take God’s Word for it, even though it would be a struggle, because there would always be obstacles and a process before the promises come to pass.
Joshua 21:43-45 (NKJV) So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
What a comfort it is to read Joshua’s testimony about God—how God had honoured His Word with His people and everything that He had promised them came to pass! Likewise, we also need to walk by faith and take God’s Word for it because God and His Word are one.
