Believing in Christ
In the dispensation of grace, our right standing with God has absolutely nothing to do with us or what we have done or will do! It is all the work of God.
Romans 3:21-24 (NKJV) But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
Jesus came to fulfill the demand of the law to help us stand righteous before God because nobody would be able to use his own strength to do it.
We are freely justified by HIS GRACE! Through the redemption in Christ Jesus , justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
It has nothing to do with our doing. Jesus fulfilled all that the law demanded of us. Jesus had abolished the law on the ground of JUSTIFICATION by fulfilling all that the law demanded. Thus allowing us to begin life with a righteousness so perfect as if we had fulfilled every bit that the law of God required on our own.
All that we are today is because of who we are in Christ!
Ephesians 1:7(NKJV) In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
Paul understood the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross and he was set free being a scholar of the law, and it is the reason why he was filled with the passion to preach Christ crucified.
Romans 10:1-4 (NKJV) Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved…. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
The Israelites were still seeking to establish their own righteousness through works and sacrifices.
Christ is the end of the law to everyone who believes and they need not strive to earn their right standing with God anymore.
Romans 10:9-13 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…..For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
All they needed to do was to acknowledge what Jesus had done for them by responding to His grace. Confessing with the mouth and believing in their hearts.
This righteousness is not founded on our feelings or experience but upon the shed blood of Jesus!
