A Renewed Mind

The mind is the seedbed for the devil’s activity. If the devil can sow a damaging thought and cause us to believe a lie, then we will soon begin to act out of that. This is because our thoughts determine our actions, habits and character. Our thought patterns impact every other area of our lives including lifestyle and decision-making.

The devil is an accuser and will keep trying to accuse us before God and accuse us in our minds and hearts that God cannot forgive our past sins and that we are not worthy of God’s love and help.

Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

When we were born again, our spirits were recreated, but not our minds. Thus, we must allow God to “reprogram” our thinking. Our thinking is influenced by our culture, past sins, upbringing, superstitions, experiences, and events that happen to us. We need therefore, to have a new input of thoughts and this is by feeding our minds with the Word of God.

Joshua 1:8-9 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.

Today, let us commit ourselves to a renewed mind. Let us pray

Father, I trust in You with all my heart; I do not lean to my own understanding but in all my ways I acknowledge You, and You shall direct my paths. I submit myself to Your Word, which exposes, sifts and analyses and judges the very thoughts and purposes of my heart. Today I shall be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Your Word, Lord, shall not depart out of my mouth; but I shall meditate on it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then I shall make my way prosperous, then I shall have good success. Amen!
